Vanguard Empowers Widows With Grants and Start-up Kits

June 7, 2026 Okene, Kogi State

Dozens of widows received cash grants, sewing machines, grinding machines and trade tools to start small businesses and regain their dignity.

The Babayemi Vanguard has empowered dozens of widows with cash grants and start-up kits, helping them launch small businesses and stand on their own.

Beneficiaries received items ranging from sewing machines and grinding machines to provisions for petty trading, alongside basic business mentorship.

"When you empower a widow, you empower an entire household," the movement noted. "These women are not asking for charity forever — they simply need a hand up, and we are honoured to provide it."

The initiative is part of the Vanguard's ongoing Women & Widows Support programme.
